Conditions are exceptional for this time of year, with a fresh snowfall at village level last night. The run down to Furgg is now open, as are several on the Italian side, giving a total of 40km of excellent powdery piste skiing.

We woke up this morning to a huge snowfall, with 17cm in the village and 75cm at Testa Grigia on the border with Cervinia. Many runs will remain closed today due to large amount of snow, but as of tomorrow Saturday, when the weather is set to clear, the skiing should be amazing!

Latest update: It has been snowing all weekend, down to village level for the first time this season. Substantial amounts of fresh snow have fallen on both the Zermatt and Cervinia side, the biggest quantity is at Plan Maison with 35cm.

The still above is from the Gornergrat train station webcam taken on November 6th, at 3,100m altitude. You can clearly see the pyramid of the Klein Matterhorn peeking from the background as the clouds lift.

We had 15cm of fresh snow on the top slopes yesterday, giving lovely conditions on the runs. The webcam image below is from Klein Matterhorn. You can see the East face of the Matterhorn, the run toward Trockener Steg, and the Furggsattel Chair in the distance.

Due to the recent snowfall, the available ski area has been extended and already there are 12 runs open giving a total of 29km and 1,000m of vertical. The winter season will start on October 29th which is also when the link to Cervinia opens.
