There was a wonderful double low pressure system on the Alps yesterday which gave us 45cm of new powder snow on the top slopes near Italy, and 30cm lower down:

Zermatt is just under the two 'L's

The result is that today most of us skipped Sunday lunch, there were just too many off-piste courses:

The Half-Term school holiday week just gone was absolutely perfect, with stable high-pressure weather conditions giving us constant sunshine and blue skies. Everyone from small kids to grand-parents had a great time, with grippy and crisp winter snow followed by al fresco lunches in the warm sun. And Zermatt being Zermatt, if you knew where to look, there were still some fresh powder tracks to be had off-piste:

This week was truly amazing, with three great powder days, the best was yesterday (Saturday) with 30-40cm of bottomless snow over on the Italian side. The off-piste was still very good on Hohtälli, but due to the weather closing in on Friday it had snowed on the southern flank of the mountain so that is where we headed. The high wind had hardened the snow on the Swiss Matterhorn side, while on the Italian side it was fluffy perfection. The advantage of being able to access both sides of the Alps. We have posted a few videos on Vimeo.
