We believe that this is the most comprehensive and accurate snow report for Zermatt that there is. The data are sourced from the SLF (Swiss Avalanche Research Institute) measuring stations, and from its Cervinia counterpart. The current snow conditions are below, you can also click on the relevant years to see the what your chosen week was like in the past. And you can download our fully detailed spreadsheet of this season’s snowfall and depths.
We had a good snowfall over the last two days, with a total of 30cm at the top and 18cm in the village. The piste conditions have improved and are much softer and fluffier than they were the previous week. More snow is forecast over the next few days.
the last snowfall was a small one of 5cm on December 16th. Nonetheless, due to the extensive glaciers and superb snowmaking, in Zermatt / Cervinia 63 runs are open giving 177km of excellent skiing. All resort runs are also open.
Over the last week we have had a total snowfall of 45cm on both the Swiss and Italian sides, and it snowed down to Zermatt village for the first time – the resort is white. The Ventina run to Cime Bianche is superb. The Sunnegga and Gornergrat areas will be opening on December 5th, it's a great time for early season skiing on uncrowded slopes.
Fresh snowfall of 20cm. The link to Cervinia opens from tomorrow until the end of the season. Conditions are outstanding and the runs blissfully empty.

The 2015-16 season has started: With 40-60cm of fresh snow on the top slopes. There is a snow base of 150cm and 11 runs are open, including the Furggsattel chairlift, giving skiers a vertical of 1,000m to play with. The link to Cervinia will open on the weekends of October 17-18th and 24-25th; it will be permanently open as of October 31st. As usual, the early skiing conditions in Zermatt are the best in the Alps.

2014-15 Winter Season Roundup:Although most of the Alps got off to a patchy start last Christmas, Zermatt benefited from their usual early season big dumps. The snowfalls then continued regularly. What was unusual is that we had a higher than average total snowfall above 2,500m altitude, with 700cm; whereas at 2,000m the snowfall totalled 411cm. Nonetheless, given the extensive snowmaking, it was not at all noticeable unless you ventured off-piste low down. If you scroll through the blog entries below, you will see that all in all it was an excellent (if not epic) season. We did far more off-piste skiing – between 3,800m and 2,500m – than on-piste, which is probably the best measure of a season.
As usual, it snows a lot in Zermatt in April. In the last week we have had a total of 120cm of fresh powder snow. The conditions are amazing, with cold powder snow on the north facing slopes, and great spring corn conditions on the south ones.

We have had several snowfalls since our last update which has given us a lot of great off-piste skiing and wonderful pistes which are still in winter condition above 2,000m. As you can see from Saturday's ski status map below, all lifts are running and all runs are open. It's the best time of year for skiing in Zermatt!
It snowed a phenomenal 70cm on the border with Italy last weekend, giving us the best powder day of the season last Sunday. We then had another good sprinkling on February 24th, which ensured spectacular conditions for the Swatch Skier Cup contest yesterday.
From Thursday onward was the big dump, bringing 30cm of fresh snow to the village and yet more up top. Conditions are a simply perfect crisp wintery powdery delight! We have posted a couple more videos for your delectation.
